Found a place

Sorry we haven't put anything up for a while. We found a place to live. Our new Address is:

Unit 2404, 129 Harrington Street
Sydney, NSW 2000
Australia.

The phone number will be +61 2 9252 1650, but from the US you can use my old cell phone, or Kathy’s new Skype number (203) 648-4512. Remember when you call to add four hours from the East Coast and switch AM and PM

Here are a few pictures:

The living room (lounge area they call it)

Standing at the balcony looking back at the kitchen

There is a little office no0k for Kath in the corner to the left.

Yes a view of the opera house. Between buildings, but still there.

View into the city from the balcony. My office is in the yellow-ish building off the corner of the park; a 2 1/2 minute commute on foot.

Out balcony - kind of windy to spend much time on, but nice to look at.

It's been too long since we got here and I haven't done anything about setting up a blog until now.

I spent the first week in a "studio apartment" in Potts Point. It turned out to be a small room with a hot plate and a small fridge. On the other hand the view was spectacular. Pleasure boats on Elizabeth bay as far as the eye can see, and looking all the way out to the ocean.
Potts Point is a beautiful, neighborhoody part of town, and is now on our short list of places to live.
I walked to work all week and got to know the town before Kathy got here.

So far, it's a spectacular city. water, water everywhere, and pretty friendly. A called a guy on the tele page – Robin Nahum - who responded to my "Moving to Sydney" post, and he invited me to dinner right away. Nice guy and a nice wife. We have seen them again since, and will continue for the rest of our time here - I hope. He’s also a really good jazz player with a nice collection of custom-made thin lines and a few Gibsons. I plan to learn some good changes and new voicings from him.

Last week I moved to a real but temporary apartment – one bedroom on the 51st floor – so that Kathy didn’t have to hang out in the “studio”. It’s OK for a small corporate-looking place. It’s in a real good city-type neighbourhood; lots of shop and restaurants on the block, and a short walk to the office.

I’ll catch up a little more in a bit.
